I totally agree. My father used to say, "No one is a failure, until they blame someone else." So you know what he instilled in me growing up:-)
I was at the Gettysburg battlefield in PA this past Saturday, taking a tour as I've done many times before. But this time I heard them say that when General Lee left the fields in defeat, his men heard him proclaim that it was all his fault. He accepted full responsibility for the Confederate Army's defeat.
Now that's an example of leadership no matter which side of the fight you were on.
Reading examples of men and women that have stood up to accept responsibility really encourages me. I also work hard to instill it in the workplace. Nothing sticks out worse than a boss that shirks responsibility.
