Breathing for Confidence: I'm a business person, but I also take yoga classes.
I've learned that the best way to boost my self-confidence when I enter a room for a presentation is to take several deep breaths.
It's not forced breathing, but it's deep and regular and helps me remember what I'm made of.
Along with that, I can also picture a power symbol such as fire or warrior in the area of my belly and chest.
I then feel that strength radiating throughout my body and up into my head.
Paradoxically, at the same time as I'm imagining my strength, I soften my jaw and relax by not being tight.
It sounds silly, but it really works because I'm more grounded and ready to go. Also, I take criticism easier this way because I'm in a more listening mode and less of a defensive mode.
