Wake Up Eager Interview: Healthy Smoothies Expert DaNae Johnson

I am pleased to share this healthy smoothies interview with you!

I found Expert DaNae Johnson, online, by way of SBI, the resource we both use to build our website businesses.

Her website www.smoothie-handbook.com is chock-full of helpful information. She freely shares so much in a friendly and very helpful way.

Upon finding her healthy smoothies site, the first thing I did was sign for her free smoothie handbook. Be sure to get this too, if you want an easy way to add more tasty health and nutrition to your life!

DaNae's email newsletter provides healthy reminders tips about smoothies that are always useful. In one of her email newsletters she recommended green smoothies. That prompting from DaNae has led to a great new habit for me: Green Smoothies. This new habit has taken my fitness and health routine to new heights.

Thank you DaNae for being a positive and helpful force in many lives (including mine) AND for taking time to do this interview. Let's get started!

Suzie: DaNae, Thank you so much for taking time to share your healthy smoothie expertise here at WakeUpEager.com!

First, please tell folks what you’re passionate about in your healthy smoothies work/website, along with what you do and why you do it..

DaNae: Passionate… that’s a strong word!

I would have to say that I’m passionate about sharing simple and easy ways for people to live vibrantly healthy lives.

This passion is what brought me to building a site on healthy smoothies and recipes.

Smoothies are extremely easy and fast to make and can be very healthy - perfect balance for my passion.

Suzie: So we can all know more about you personally, tell us about a hobby or interest that you have, outside of your website for healthy smoothies work.

DaNae: I own 15 chickens. I grew up in Houston, Texas as a city girl… but now I’m a country girl in Northern Minnesota.

My family likes to tease me about my love for my chickens. I am the “mother” hen. If I am outside in the yard, the chickens aren’t too far away.

"Another reason I love healthy smoothies is the convenience. Let’s face it...Life is BUSY! Most families have a hard time eating at home as it is.

Blending up a smoothie is so simple and fast.

Many families can truly eat healthfully - while at the same time getting their nutrition on the go."

Suzie: Why did you create smoothie-handbook.com? What prompted you to become an expert in this area?

DaNae: I created Smoothie Handbook because I wanted to build a business in the health field. I love teaching health classes in my rural area. But with 2 young boys (2 years old and newborn), teaching classes every month was quite stressful on my family and me. Each class would have around 15-20 people.

I knew that I could write about health on the internet and reach more people every single day of the month. That is when I decided that I needed to start writing articles and newsletters.

I was trained as an herbalist, but my true desire is to teach about nutrition and healthy lifestyle changes. I knew that I had to write on a narrower topic than just natural health and diet. So I wrote down the top three business ideas. One of the topics would’ve been very profitable, but I wasn’t on fire for that idea.

A year prior, I had lost 45 pounds with the help of green smoothies. I loved the simplicity of the concept. But I didn’t want to go too narrow with just green smoothies.

So I went with my gut and decided to open a website about all types of healthy smoothies. Also, I’ve had a lot of experience with making smoothies not only at home for my family, but I was also a manager at a smoothie bar for over a year.

Suzie: Why is adding smoothies to our diets a good idea and a part of healthy living?

DaNae: The healthy additions are endless! People can use immune-boosting supplements, healthy fats, greens, energizing supplements, proteins, and fiber in their smoothies. Those are just to name a handful of ideas.

As I stated earlier, I have two little boys. They are too young to shallow pills. And at times it is just easier to give them a big glass of green smoothie with handfuls of spinach instead of expecting them to chew down a large plate of salad.

Simple truth is... Healthy smoothies are a tasty way to nourish my family.

"I would have to say that my #1 Wake Up Eager Mindset Essential is probably #4 – My Happiness is My Job.

Now, I’m not expert at being happy and joyful all of the time. I have to keep reminding myself that waking up joyfully every day is my decision. I must remember that the best or worst of circumstances shouldn’t sway my happiness. It is a choice."

Suzie: What key tips will help the busy leader incorporate more healthy smoothies and eating into their life?

DaNae: Plan ahead! Being organized is key to on staying on top of providing healthy meals.

First, write down your week’s menu and post your written menu somewhere visual. Then make sure that your fridge is stocked with those healthy foods.

Suzie: Which one of the 10 Wake Up Eager Mindset Essentials is your #1? Or would you add anything to our list?

DaNae: This question is a hard one to answer as all of your 10 points are spot on to getting the job done with intense motivation. All of your points have a domino effect upon the other sparking the determination to accomplish the tasks at hand.

I would have to say that my #1 Wake Up Eager Mindset Essential is probably #4 – My Happiness is My Job. Now, I’m not expert at being happy and joyful all of the time. I have to keep reminding myself that waking up joyfully every day is my decision. I must remember that the best or worst of circumstances shouldn’t sway my happiness. It is a choice.

Suzie: What do you think is the biggest obstacle for more of us loving our lives, ourselves and waking up eager more often?

DaNae: Our destructive thoughts can be a huge obstacle for us. Thinking that “I’m not worthy or good enough” can be very crippling and will quickly stifle any motivation.

If there is an issue, deal with it and move on. Don’t dwell on it. Make a collection of encouraging emails and letters that you’ve received. When you are down, read through them and remember why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Suzie: What things do you personally do to wake up eager and stay energized, focused and interested in your work and life?

DaNae: I like to set goals every year and reexamine them every quarter. Every week I look at those goals and set my weekly tasks to get me closer to accomplishing my yearly goals. Being able to look over all that has gotten done over the years encourages me to continue towards the future.

Suzie: DaNae, Thank you for taking the time to do this interview here at WakeUpEager.com and thank you for following your "gut" and interests and creating your website.
